SharonPly has been actively supporting small-scale vendors who often work long hours under challenging conditions. Our initiative—Umbrellas with Solar Powered Lights—aims to empower roadside vendors by providing them with practical tools to improve both visibility and comfort during their working hours.
A Ray of Light During Festive Times
In Diwali 2022, SharonPly launched this initiative by distributing solar-lit umbrellas to street vendors at Marina Beach, Chennai. These umbrellas provided shade during the day and light during the night—ensuring vendors could operate safely and continue business even after sunset.
Expanded Outreach
Inspired by the overwhelming response, the initiative was expanded in 2023 to include multiple locations across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, especially around temples and public marketplaces. These solar-powered umbrellas not only reduced dependence on electricity but also helped improve the working conditions of countless vendors.
